New to Grow
I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in California. I've been working in Mental Health for over 10 years, with 8 years experience as a School Counselor, and three years as an Associate & Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. I have helped individuals navigate trauma, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, gender identity, and major life transitions. Clients often tell me they appreciate having a space where they feel heard without judgement—a place to sort through their thoughts, gain clarity, and walk away with tools they can actually use in real life.
A typical therapy session is a safe space for you to talk about what’s on your mind and how you’ve been feeling. We usually start by checking in about your week and anything important you’d like to share. From there, we work together to explore your thoughts and emotions, understand patterns that might be causing stress, and find practical ways to cope. Sometimes this includes learning new skills, practicing strategies, or just taking time to reflect. Toward the end, we’ll review what stood out during the session and talk about any steps you’d like to try before we meet again. The goal is to support you in feeling heard, understood, and empowered to make positive changes.
In our sessions, I bring a mix of warmth and honesty, paired with evidence-based approaches like EMDR, CBT, and DBT, all through a trauma-informed lens. Ultimately I tailor my approach to you, and I take on a highly collaborative approach. My style is conversational and practical, and I like to keep things real. When it fits, I’ll sprinkle in humor, a dash of sarcasm, and the occasional pop culture or Disney reference (because sometimes a little laughter and a well-timed quote can make the hard stuff easier). Together, we’ll explore what truly helps you thrive—and maybe even have a few laughs along the way.
My ideal client includes clients looking for help with anxiety, complex trauma, PTSD, LGBTQIA identity issues, and neurodivergence. I love working with people from all walks of life and backgrounds. I am a queer therapist so working with other people in the LGBTQIA umbrella is especially meaningful to me. In addition, if you have had a recent traumatic event or even complex trauma, EMDR is a passion for me, and I would love to help you break free from the disturbance of the trauma. I utilize a warm approach although direct, and love to interject humor into therapy (where appropriate).
EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is a powerful approach that can help individuals process and heal from traumatic experiences. It enables clients to reframe distressing memories, reducing their emotionality and allowing for a healthier perspective. Many people find that EMDR offers quicker relief from symptoms of trauma compared to traditional talk therapy, making it an effective choice for those seeking to regain control over their lives. By addressing the root of the trauma, EMDR promotes lasting healing and emotional resilience.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a highly effective treatment that helps individuals understand and change their thought patterns and behaviors. By addressing negative thinking and promoting healthier coping strategies, CBT empowers people to manage anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues more effectively. This evidence-based approach not only fosters resilience, but also equips individuals with practical tools for long-term emotional well-being. Ultimately, CBT encourages personal growth and a deeper understanding of oneself, leading to a more fulfilling life.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is a structured approach that helps individuals manage emotional distress and enhance relationships. Combining cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness, DBT empowers clients to develop skills for emotional regulation and effective communication, particularly beneficial for those with borderline personality disorder and intense emotional responses.
