Hello! I’m Joshua Vance, LPCC, owner of Live 4 You Counseling LLC. I’m a down-to-earth, compassionate counselor who believes therapy doesn’t have to feel stiff or overly clinical. While I take my clients and their concerns seriously, I also believe healing often happens through authentic connection, practical conversations, and even a little humor when appropriate. My style is warm, encouraging, and collaborative, and I strive to create a space where people feel comfortable being themselves. I enjoy helping adults navigate anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, autism, life transitions, relationship challenges, and personal growth while developing practical tools for lasting change. For those who desire it, I also offer faith-integrated counseling from a Christian perspective.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During our first session, you can expect a relaxed, conversational environment where we’ll spend time getting to know one another. I’ll ask questions about what brings you to therapy, your current concerns, important life experiences, and what you hope to gain from the counseling process. This is also an opportunity for you to ask questions and determine whether I feel like a good fit for your needs. My goal during the first session is not to judge or overwhelm you, but to understand your story, identify your strengths, and begin developing a plan that aligns with your goals. By the end of our session, you’ll have a clearer understanding of how we can work together and what the next steps in treatment may look like.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

One of my greatest strengths is my ability to create a space where clients feel comfortable being themselves. Clients often describe me as approachable, down-to-earth, compassionate, and easy to talk to. I believe therapy is most effective when there is a genuine connection, so I strive to balance professionalism with authenticity, warmth, and, when appropriate, a sense of humor. My approach stands out because I combine evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) with practical, real-world application. I don’t believe therapy should stay in the therapy room. Together, we’ll focus on developing tools and strategies that can be used in everyday life. I also bring experience working with neurodivergent adults, individuals navigating life transitions, anxiety, OCD, depression, and concerns related to faith, identity, and personal growth. My goal is to help clients gain insight while also creating meaningful and lasting change.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am best positioned to serve adults who are seeking greater balance, self-understanding, and practical tools to navigate life’s challenges. Much of my work focuses on emerging adults (ages 18–30) who are navigating important life transitions, such as establishing independence, developing healthy relationships, setting boundaries, exploring identity, and discovering who they want to become. This stage of life can be both exciting and overwhelming, and I enjoy helping clients build confidence and clarity as they move forward. I also work with adults who are neurodivergent, including individuals with ADHD and autism. Many of these clients are highly capable but may struggle with executive functioning, emotional regulation, social relationships, sensory challenges, organization, or feeling misunderstood by others. I enjoy helping neurodivergent adults better understand how their minds work, embrace their strengths, and develop strategies that support success in daily life. In addition, I work with adults who are balancing the demands of work, family, caregiving, and other life responsibilities. Many clients come to therapy feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, or disconnected from themselves after spending years focusing on everyone else’s needs. Together, we work to restore balance, strengthen boundaries, and reconnect with the values, goals, and passions that bring meaning to their lives. My clinical areas of focus include anxiety disorders, OCD, depression, stress management, executive functioning difficulties, and life adjustment concerns. I enjoy helping clients identify unhelpful patterns, develop healthier coping skills, and create lasting change through practical and evidence-based approaches. I also have a particular passion for helping individuals struggling with pornography use, compulsive sexual behaviors, shame, and issues related to self-control and personal values. I strive to provide a supportive and nonjudgmental environment where clients can explore these concerns openly while working toward greater freedom, alignment, and personal growth. I am competent in Faith base counseling as well

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

My counseling approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), but I believe therapy should feel like a real conversation—not a lecture. Together, we’ll explore how your thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and life experiences influence one another and impact your daily life. In our sessions, I’ll help you identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck, whether that’s anxiety, depression, stress, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, unwanted habits, or overwhelming life circumstances. Rather than simply focusing on symptoms, we’ll work together to understand what’s happening beneath the surface and develop practical tools you can use outside of session. I take a down-to-earth, collaborative approach to therapy. I don’t believe in telling people what to do. Instead, I help clients gain insight, challenge unhelpful thinking patterns, and develop healthier ways of responding to life’s challenges. My goal is to create a space where you feel heard, respected, and empowered to make meaningful changes at your own pace. Depending on your needs, sessions may include learning coping skills, exploring personal beliefs, practicing new ways of thinking, improving communication, building confidence, managing stress, or developing strategies to navigate difficult situations. I also recognize that every person’s story is unique, so I tailor therapy to fit your individual goals, strengths, values, and experiences. Whether you’re seeking support for anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism, OCD, relationship concerns, life transitions, or spiritual growth, my goal is to help you move from simply surviving to living with greater clarity, confidence, and hope.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

My approach to Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is practical, supportive, and focused on helping clients build skills they can use in everyday life. I believe that two things can be true at the same time: you can accept yourself as you are today while also working toward meaningful change. That balance is at the heart of DBT. In our work together, we’ll focus on developing skills to help you manage intense emotions, cope with stress, improve relationships, and make decisions that align with your goals and values. Many people come to therapy feeling overwhelmed by their emotions, struggling with conflict, reacting impulsively, or feeling stuck in unhealthy patterns. DBT provides concrete tools to help create greater stability, confidence, and emotional balance. I take a down-to-earth and collaborative approach to teaching DBT skills. Rather than simply talking about problems, we’ll work on practical strategies that can be applied in real-life situations. Sessions may include learning mindfulness skills to stay grounded in the present moment, distress tolerance skills to navigate difficult situations without making them worse, emotion regulation skills to better understand and manage feelings, and interpersonal effectiveness skills to improve communication and relationships. I recognize that life can be challenging, and I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can be honest about their struggles while also building on their strengths. My goal is to help you feel more equipped to handle life’s ups and downs, strengthen your resilience, and develop healthier ways of responding to the challenges you face. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, emotional overwhelm, relationship difficulties, ADHD, autism, life transitions, or stress, DBT can provide practical tools to help you create a life that feels more balanced, meaningful, and worth living.
