For the past decade, my goal as a clinician has been to support others with marginalized identities in their journey of healing from trauma and navigating the challenges of daily life. I have 10 years of experience working in community mental health clinics and LGBTQIA+ health centers. I work with a diverse range of clients, from adolescents to seniors and individuals from a multitude of ethnicities and cultures. I specialize in the use of proven, evidence-based treatments to support clients in their recovery from trauma/Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), managing depression, anxiety, other mood disorders, and Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). As a clinician who lives, thrives, and sometimes struggles with my own mental health and complex trauma, I've been there! I understand how hard it can be. Let's see if we can figure this out together.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, I like to invite clients to ask any questions they may have about me as a clinician and my approach to therapy. I encourage clients to participate equally in the session so that I'm not doing all of the talking. I will ask clients about any concerns that have contributed to their decision to seek therapy and, as we talk, I'll offer various options for interventions that I think may be helpful for the client. By the end of the first session, we'll put together an initial treatment plan.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am an expert in the treatment of single-incident and complex trauma, in addition to mood disorders and Borderline Personality Disorder.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, clients with complex trauma, trauma within relationships, or single-incident trauma.

My treatment methods

EMDR

EMDR is often my "go to" treatment for Complex PTSD and complex trauma. EMDR targets negative core beliefs developed during traumatic experiences and provides a way to: 1) Change the negative core beliefs 2) Replace them with positive adaptive core beliefs. 3) Change how clients feel about themselves and their relationship to others. I am a certified EMDR therapist and I have been using this treatment method for one year. I continue to advance my education and training through various courses and case consultation.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I have six years of experience using DBT in individual treatment and skills groups. DBT is an extremely effective treatment for Borderline Personality Disorder and anyone who struggles with emotion regulation and attachment problems in relationships caused by complex trauma.

Prolonged Exposure Therapy

This is an evidence-based treatment for PTSD that is best suited for single incident trauma. I am a certified PE therapist and consultant with eight years of experience providing Prolonged Exposure treatment. Prolonged Exposure therapy results in a very fast and permanent reduction of symptoms, usually within 10-12 90-minute sessions. Clients need to be very committed and have strong distress tolerance skills to complete this treatment successfully.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

I use an IFS-informed framework to help clients understand how and why their past experiences influence the ways in which they navigate the world in the present. This is not CBT. I have basic training in this modality and regularly consult a fully certified IFS clinician for case consultation.
