Hi! I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Delaware; I have my license in Delaware as well as Pennsylvania. I received my master's degree from Temple University, Philadelphia and have been practicing for 15+ years. My passion is to bring healing, understanding and support to people who have been through a traumatic/stressful experience. I help clients, who include children, adults and families, to find healthy perceptions of themselves and strengthen their relationships so they can see themselves as peaceful, complete, whole and safe.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions and an intake assessment to provide a better understanding of past experience in counseling and life circumstances. We also will discuss specific challenges you're facing, initial goals for treatment, and create a plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strengths are patience and confidence in working with others, I have the patience to help clients walk through their struggles at their pace. I generally approach everyone and every situation in my life with a non-judgmental stance, making sure others feel comfortable with being open and honest in our communication. Having good listening skills and being observant gives me the ability to understand what is under the surface and encourage clients to get to that level of understanding about themselves. I am viewed by others as trustworthy, and I respect their confidentiality and self-determination. I am self-aware and have the ability to separate my own experiences from the work that I do while understanding the impact that it has on my life and the motivation it creates for me to help others. I appreciate diversity and I am open to working with individuals from different backgrounds and learning from my interactions with others that have different experiences. I provide counseling in an empathetic and compassionate way to ensure that clients are able to feel comfortable in exploring their issues while helping clients to feel empowered by providing a supportive space to discuss their difficulties.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I truly enjoy working with different individuals from various backgrounds and cultures. I enjoy working with individuals that are just looking for feedback and coaching as well as individuals that are interested in digging a little deeper into issues that are impacting them in their daily lives whether related to work, relationships and/or personal growth.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have been using CBT as a treatment model for many years. In my practice of providing this mode of therapy, I educate clients about the foundation of CBT and the concept that thoughts, feelings and behaviors are all connected. I engage in a gradual process with clients of helping them recognize negative thought patterns and guide them in taking incremental steps towards more positive thought patterns and behavior change.

Attachment-based

Most of my work with attachment-based therapies is with families who have children that experienced trauma. Attachment-Focused Therapy with families is about helping the family members to identify the neurobiological element of trauma and behaviors exhibited as a result of trauma. Helping families to use skills that enhance communication, empathy and understanding towards each other and encourage an environment of support.

Couples Counseling

I have worked with several couples over the past two years, partners and married couples. Meeting with partners separately at the beginning of therapy is important to learn about issues that are sensitive to them and to understand their motivation for therapy. During couples counseling sessions it's important to establish boundaries and create a space where both individuals feel supported, valued and heard.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I am certified and have extensive experience in providing DBT services as part of DBT certified program. I have experience facilitating DBT classes and well as co-facilitating along with providing individual DBT counseling. I consistently use the concepts of DBT to provide clients with positive coping techniques to help with anxiety, depression, self-harm, addiction, and other issues that affect them in their daily lives.

Trauma Informed Care

Trauma informed care is a key concept and approach in all the treatment modalities that I utilize with patients. Realizing the prevalence of trauma in the lives of others is a key component to understanding where each individual is coming from along with recognizing how this trauma affects their lives. These experiences are incorporated into their treatment plan and counseling program from a strengths-based perspective.
