Suzanne Hattaway
I work with adolescents and adults who are ready to invest in their emotional well-being and personal growth. Through a warm, thoughtful, and evidence-based approach, I help clients gain clarity, overcome obstacles, strengthen relationships, and build a more fulfilling life.
Helping Adults Navigate Anxiety, Life Transitions, and Meaningful Change
Together, we'll create meaningful change that aligns with your values, goals, and the life you want to live.
First session
Many clients come to their first session feeling nervous or unsure of what to expect, and that's completely normal. My goal is to create a calm, supportive environment where you can share your story at your own pace without judgment. During our first session, we'll discuss what brings you to therapy, explore the challenges you're facing, and identify what you'd like to gain from our work together. You'll have the opportunity to ask questions, learn more about my approach, and begin developing a clear path forward. By the end of the session, my hope is that you'll feel heard, understood, and more confident about the next steps toward creating the changes you're seeking.
Strengths
One of my greatest strengths is my ability to combine genuine compassion with practical, evidence-based guidance. Clients often appreciate that our sessions feel both supportive and productive. I take time to understand not only what's happening in your life, but also the deeper patterns shaping your experiences, relationships, and decisions. My approach stands out because it's highly personalized. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all method, I tailor therapy to your unique goals, strengths, and circumstances. I strive to create a space where you feel understood, challenged when appropriate, and empowered to make meaningful, lasting changes.
Ideal clients
My ideal clients are adolescents and adults who are motivated to better understand themselves and create meaningful change in their lives. They may be navigating anxiety, stress, life transitions, relationship challenges, or feeling stuck despite outward success. Often, they are seeking more than symptom relief. They want greater self-awareness, healthier relationships, increased confidence, and a stronger sense of balance and fulfillment. The clients I work with best are open to self-reflection, curious about their patterns and experiences, and willing to engage in the therapeutic process. Together, we focus on building insight, developing practical skills, and creating lasting change that aligns with their values and goals.
Origin story
I became a therapist because I'm deeply fascinated by human resilience and the ways people can grow through life's challenges. I've always been drawn to understanding what helps individuals move beyond surviving and begin living with greater clarity, confidence, and purpose. It's a privilege to walk alongside clients as they gain insight, overcome obstacles, and create meaningful change in their lives.
Ongoing work together
Therapy is a collaborative process, and our work together will be tailored to your unique goals, challenges, and strengths. As we build a deeper understanding of the patterns, experiences, and beliefs that may be influencing your life, we'll also focus on developing practical tools that support meaningful change outside of our sessions. Progress often looks different for each person, but many clients begin to notice they feel more confident in their decisions, communicate more effectively, respond to challenges with greater resilience, and experience a stronger sense of balance and self-understanding. Over time, you'll likely find yourself applying what you've learned in therapy to everyday situations and approaching life with greater clarity and intention. Throughout our work together, we'll regularly revisit your goals to ensure therapy remains focused, effective, and aligned with the changes you want to create.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is one of the primary approaches I use to help clients better understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Often, the ways we think about ourselves, our relationships, and life's challenges can contribute to feelings of anxiety, stress, self-doubt, or overwhelm. In our work together, we'll identify unhelpful thought patterns, explore how they impact your emotions and daily experiences, and develop healthier, more balanced ways of responding. CBT is a practical, goal-oriented approach that not only helps create insight but also provides concrete tools you can apply in everyday life. I integrate CBT in a way that is collaborative and tailored to your unique needs, helping you build greater self-awareness, resilience, and confidence while creating meaningful, lasting change. Rather than simply managing symptoms, the goal is to help you develop skills that support long-term emotional well-being and personal growth.
