Jessica Slovensky
Hi there! I’m Jessica. You might not see availability on my calendar—don’t let that stop you! I’d love to connect and can usually find a time that works. Just send me a message or give me a call, and I’ll get you scheduled with Grow!
My work includes: Substance use disorders, Men's issues, Anxiety, Relationship discernment, Divorce, Parenting, Women's issues, Post Abortion Grief and Trauma and Hypnotherapy for various issues/concerns.
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Board-Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist. If you value authenticity and want a counselor who keeps it real (not stuffy!), you’re in the right place. I’m all about finding practical solutions and helping you move forward. I have over 24 years of counseling experience and use result-driven skills and a healthy sense of humor to help you grow. I value authenticity, integrity, and transparency in our sessions as I strive to foster trust and positivity to facilitate growth. I am an outside-of-the-box thinker and use various therapeutic modalities to help you achieve your goals, whether it is to reduce anxiety, make healthy choices, set boundaries with others, increase assertiveness or address past unresolved issues. Originally from Charleston, SC and now in Atlanta, GA, I am licensed to practice in both states. Outside of my counseling practice, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, being outdoors, walking, laughing, and learning new things. If we meet and I am not a good fit for you, no worries! I will help you locate a therapist who is more in line with your preferences. Sound good? Talk soon!
First session
During our first session, I will ask a number of questions to better understand what brings you to therapy and what you hope to gain from our work together. My goal is to clearly understand the outcomes you are looking for so we can begin making meaningful progress right away. You will also complete a few brief screenings or assessments to help identify any symptoms you may be experiencing. This helps ensure that we are addressing the right areas from the start. Of course, you are always free to decline answering any question. Our first session is also a time for us to get to know one another and for you to determine whether I feel like a good fit for you. I also typically introduce a concept or framework in our first session that can be helpful as we begin our work together and that we can build on in future sessions.
Strengths
I am very knowledgeable and skilled in working with those suffering from Post Abortion Trauma. This includes men and women, and anyone involved in an abortion experience. I also encourage use of your spiritual beliefs, should you have one, and apply your faith to your issue if that is a benefit to you. I am also skilled helping determine Narcissistic Abuse and discerning relationship status/changes. And, I happen to love Solution Focused Brief Therapy which is SO motivating and helpful to get unstuck.
Ideal clients
Adults who are insightful, motivated for change, and ready to do the work. They may be struggling with anxiety, trauma, ADHD, life transitions, relationship challenges, or the effects of emotionally unhealthy relationships. They value direct, compassionate feedback, appreciate practical tools mixed with deeper emotional work, and want lasting change, not just symptom relief. They are open to approaches like Solution-Focused Therapy, CBT, hypnotherapy, and mind-body techniques, and they're looking for a therapist who is warm, authentic, occasionally funny, and willing to challenge them when needed.
