Mari Fajardo
As a Christian woman, you want a therapist who understands both your faith and your struggles without judgement. I help women who feel anxious, overwhelmed, and unlike themselves find steadiness in their emotions, their relationships, and their walk with God. Maybe you’ve noticed changes in your mood, find yourself overthinking, or have questions about relationships that matter to you. It could be that you are going through a difficult season, hormonal changes related to perimenopause or PMDD, or due to memories and hurts that still affect you today. You may be telling yourself that if you prayed more or tried harder, you’d be fine. I hear this a lot. You’re not going crazy, and you’re not weak. What used to work just isn’t working right now. As a bilingual (English & Español), licensed therapist with 20 years of experience, I’ve walked with many women of all ages through hard seasons. In our sessions, we’ll figure out what’s going on and work on practical ways to calm your mind, manage your emotions, and relate to yourself with great self-compassion. As a Christian therapist, I can draw on biblical truths alongside proven approaches like cognitive-behavioral therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy, so your faith becomes part of your healing. If you’d rather keep faith out of our sessions, that’s completely okay too. También ofrezco terapia en español.
First session
Our work begins with a brief consultation to ensure we’re a good fit and that you feel comfortable. During our initial session, I focus on understanding your story, identifying the specific patterns that leave you feeling "stuck," and setting goals for our time together.
Strengths
I bring a calm, compassionate presence into each session to help women feel supported. After 20 years of doing this work, very little surprises me, so you can bring the messy, complicated parts without worrying about being judged. I'm warm and patient, but I won't just nod along. I'll gently point out the patterns I notice and help you try something different.
Ideal clients
I am best positioned to support women struggling with anxiety, overthinking, loneliness, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and the effects of painful past experiences. Many of the women I work with feel emotionally overwhelmed and tired of carrying everything on their own. I help clients develop a healthier relationship with difficult thoughts and feelings so they can respond to life with greater self-compassion, resilience, and purpose. For clients who desire it, I also offer counseling that honors the Christian faith by integrating evidence-based therapy with biblical values and space for spiritual concerns as part of the healing process.
Origin story
I believe God placed the desire in my heart early on to help others, and it has been a gift to get to do this work. Having walked through my own difficult seasons, I bring more than just clinical expertise to our sessions. Knowing what it feels like to seek healing allows me to sit alongside others with compassion.
Treatment methods
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I help women learn how to cope with overwhelming emotions and difficult situations while reconnecting with the things that matter most to them. Together, we work on responding to life’s challenges with greater self-compassion, clarity, and purpose.
Christian Counseling
I offer Christian counseling for women who want their faith to be part of the counseling process. This can include integration of Scripture in a thoughtful way, addressing your current situation through a biblical lens, and strengthening spiritual resilience during difficult seasons. Together, we can explore topics like anxiety, relationships, loneliness, forgiveness, identity, and life changes while seeking healing, hope, and a deeper connection with God. I welcome women at all stages of faith, including those who feel distant from God or unsure of where they stand spiritually.
