Hi, I'm Virgil. Is the stress of daily routines, the navigating of relationships, and work weighing you down? Then you are not alone. Life can be stressful at times, but I believe we all have the necessary tools to meet those challenges. My passion is helping clients find their unique tools and navigate life productively. In therapy, I use a mix of motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and empowerment theory to help my clients. My approach to therapy can be described as warm, open, and friendly.

First session

I like to treat the first session as a chance for us to get to know each other; this provides the opportunity to go past profile "blurbs" and intake questions and humanize the experience.

Strengths

I have a calm yet motivational communication style. I prioritize creating an open and supportive environment that allows for frank discussions. Therapy should not feel stiff or formal; I prefer my clients to feel at ease, which I believe creates a healthy and therapeutic environment. I view therapy as a supportive partnership. Together, we will tackle stressors and explore ways for you to regain, achieve, or maintain that better sense of self.

Ideal clients

I strongly believe in the strength and resilience of the human spirit, but sometimes we have to remind ourselves of the strength we all have within. My ideal client is anyone willing to gain greater insight, address the issues and stressors impacting them, and demonstrate the determination to meet and achieve their goals. I work with adults of all ages in a collaborative way to address anxiety, depression, feelings of burnout, and general life stress.

Origin story

I have always been drawn to helping others and throughout my journey in the mental health field, I have found that providing a safe outlet/place for someone to explore their emotions and thoughts can be highly beneficial. I truly believe in the power of determination and the resilience of the human spirit, and find joy in witnessing the use of those strengths.

Ongoing work together

Communication is key and every session will start with a check in to address what has been going well and what has not. I will also encourage my clients to complete client check-in "measures" so we can visually track the progress of reducing anxiety or depressive symptoms or the improvement of overall quality of life. Therapy is a process and sometimes it is not linear, but each session will build upon itself and lead to the completion of goals or even just achieving better insight.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I enjoy using this therapy method to help increase overall self awareness by identifying , negative thoughts, actions and responses to situations. By gaining this awareness , we can start learning new ways on how to view problems, cope with stress and tackle problematic situations in a healthier manner.

Motivational Interviewing

I enjoy using this method to help empower, encourage and motivate my clients.
