Hi! My name is Lisa Hargrove, I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist in the state of North Carolina. I am also cross licensed in the state of Nevada as a Clinical Professional Counselor. I have been in the Substance Abuse field since 1996 working as an alcohol counselor in an outpatient setting. I received my applied AAS degree in 1996 and went on to receive my BS in Community Health and Human Services with an emphasis on Grief and Gerontology.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we will start with introductions and dive into the specific challenges you are facing. I want to learn as much as I can about you to help me tailor a specific treatment plan for us to focus on in our follow up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked in the substance abuse and mental health field for so many years, I have developed a tried and true play book and resources to use in sessions with individuals who are struggling with these issues, the challenges that they encounter, and the ability to create a plan that leads to measurable progress.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

For many years, I worked in the criminal justice area of substance abuse and worked for Suffolk TASC and Drug Treatment Court until relocating to North Carolina from New York. After my move, I worked in various different types of SUD and Mental Health programs as well as domestic violence and sexual assault programs. I received my Masters degree in Professional Counseling and a Masters degree in Criminal Justice from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia in 2015 and 2017. I have experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Medication Assisted Treatment, and Trauma Informed Care. I believe in a trusting partnership that will encourage the client to both healing and empowerment as well as to maximize their life goals. I am passionate about normalizing substance abuse and mental health treatment and improving accessibility of mental health care for all. I specialize in anxiety, depression, life transition, SUD, grief, domestic abuse, trauma, and working with the aging population. In my free time, I enjoy reading, gardening, horses, and traveling.
