Crystal Williams
I am a licensed professional social worker dedicated to helping adults manage anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, life stressors, low self-confidence, and other personal challenges. Over the past four years, my clinical work has focused on helping clients recognize unhelpful thought patterns, habits, and beliefs; develop practical coping skills; strengthen self-esteem and self-worth; and draw on their existing strengths. I use a collaborative, grounded approach to support meaningful, lasting progress. I value the therapeutic relationship and work alongside each client as a supportive passenger while they remain in the driver's seat. I meet clients where they are, empowering them to choose the focus and pace of treatment.
First session
During our initial session I will be gathering a lot of information around what lead you to connect with therapy and gather information on your history with therapist, current stressors and goals and building our therapeutic relationship. I also spend time during the initial session getting to know you and challenge you to identify the root problem of the issue you are currently facing. If you are looking for more solution focused therapy, we will focus on your current life stressors and build a treatment plan on finding a solution to help improve your mental state.
Strengths
My therapeutic approach is grounded in patience and gives clients space to identify what they want to address. I allow time during and between sessions for reflection, encouraging clients to challenge unhelpful thinking, move beyond past mistakes, and determine which changes they are ready and willing to make. This process supports a healthier relationship with themselves and stronger connections with others. Because every person has distinct needs and a unique personality, I tailor therapy to the individual rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is someone who is tired of the way they are currently thinking and responding to situations that are outside of their control and focusing on changes that are within their control that influences their decision making. My ideal client is someone that has goals or wants to identify goals they can set for self to help improve their overall wellbeing.
Origin story
My ability to connect and communicate effectively with others, along with my passion for improving their overall well-being, inspired me to become a therapist. I was also motivated by hearing people describe unsatisfying therapy experiences marked by limited communication, understanding, feedback, or encouragement to grow. I wanted to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can be open, feel heard and supported, and work toward meaningful change.
Ongoing work together
On-going work would be collaborating together to create an individualized treatment plan with measurable objective to help you to identify you are making progress. You will have small take home assignments to help you to continue to work towards your goal outside of therapy.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) in treatment by helping you to identify and change unhealthy thought patterns and behaviors that affect how you feel.
Faith-based therapy
I use Faith-based therapy in treatment by incorporating biblical doctrine combining one's faith with psychological principles to improve relationships and mental health.
Compassion-Focused
I use Compassion-focused therapy in treatment by helping you learn to be kinder to self. Instead of just challenging negative thoughts which is used in CBT, CFT (compassion focused therapy) adds another layer where you work on changing how you relate to self.
Motivational Interviewing
I use Motivation Interviewing (MI) in therapy and it one of my favorite therapy modalities by building trust and motivation by focusing on empathy and collaboration to help with difficulty of making the change and not making the change you want to see in your life.
Strength-Based
I use strength-based therapy in treatment by helping you to identify your resilience, values, aspirations and existing capacities to nurture growth by building on what already works.
