Whether you are facing marital conflict, trauma, grief, anxiety, or workplace stress—or navigating military transitions, combat trauma, or deployment-related family strain—I am here to help! For those who desire it, I offer the integration of Christian faith into therapy, creating space for spiritual healing alongside emotional growth.
First session
I almost always begin with the question, "How will you know that therapy worked?" My goals are to help you feel comfortable with the therapy process, explore your goals for therapy, and simply get to know each other. Working together to clarify goals, build trust, and establish mutual rapport will put us in the best position to collaborate as we move forward.
Strengths
A combat veteran with over 20 years experience providing care and counseling to Service Members and Military Families, I specialize in helping couples, families, and individuals grow through life's challenges with a trauma informed approach utilizing EMDR, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and other tools to meet each client's needs.
Ideal clients
My ideal clients are individuals, couples, Military Veterans, Active Duty Servicemembers, or LEO/First Responders ready to grow through life’s challenges. My clients may be facing marital conflict, trauma, grief, anxiety, or workplace stress—or navigating military transitions, combat trauma, deployment-related family strain, or Moral Injury. For those who desire it, I offer the integration of Christian faith into therapy, creating space for spiritual healing alongside emotional growth.
Origin story
For as long as I can remember, I have felt deep compassion and empathy for people struggling in the storms of life. This passion eventually led to me serving as a US Army Chaplain as well as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. My ultimate goal was to gain the knowledge, skills, and experience needed to bring hope, help, and healing to those in crisis.
Ongoing work together
After the first sessions, we will find the best approach to work on your therapy goals and get to work! As we go along, we will check on progress towards your goals to make sure we are on the right track.
Treatment methods
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
I use Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy to help couples break out of destructive communication cycles and get to the heart of what each partner desires most - a relationship that can touch their deepest emotional needs.
EMDR
When dealing with PTSD and Trauma, EMDR is my go-to therapy. This evidence-based therapy can be very effective at helping people get "unstuck" and move towards healing after traumatic experiences.
Faith-based therapy
I integrate faith into therapy from a Christian perspective. While I do not use a specific faith-based method, each of the treatment methods I use are complementary to faith integration.
Solution-Focused Brief Treatment
Solution Focused is a great therapy model for those who want to solve their problems and move on! I love this therapy because it views the client as the expert, and puts them into the drivers seat for finding solutions to their situation. As the therapist, I just need to ask the right questions to get you to see that you already know what to do!
Gottman method
For couples, I will almost always start out with Gottman Method because it offers a comprehensive "Marriage Check-up" to help us identify exactly what the couple needs to work on.
