I’m Karolina, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who works with mothers and perinatal women: women moving through pregnancy, postpartum, and the long, often quiet becoming of motherhood. Many of the women I work with are capable, high-achieving, and used to holding everything together. From the outside they look fine. Inside, they may be anxious, depleted, disconnected from their bodies, or grieving a version of themselves they can’t quite name. If that sounds familiar, you’re not failing. You’re at a threshold, and you don’t have to cross it alone. I support women with perinatal anxiety and depression, birth trauma, body image concerns, grief and loss, and the identity shifts of matrescence. My approach is warm, collaborative, and evidence-based, and I bring in somatic and nervous-system-informed practices like breathwork, mindfulness, and gentle body awareness to help you feel more regulated and at home in yourself. My background also includes a master’s in Sport and Exercise Science and training as a yoga instructor and health coach, so I pay attention to the whole person: mind, body, and the life you’re actually living. This is a space where you can set down the performance and simply be held.

First session

Starting therapy can feel vulnerable, especially if you’re used to being the one who has it all handled. Our first session is simply a chance to meet, get to know each other, and see if we’re a good fit. There’s no pressure to share everything or have the right words. We’ll begin with a gentle conversation about what brought you here, what’s feeling heavy right now, and what you’d like to feel different. I’ll ask about your background, your support system, and your experience of pregnancy, postpartum, or motherhood so I can understand the bigger picture of your life. You’re welcome to ask me questions too, about how I work, what therapy with me looks like, or anything else on your mind. If it feels right, I may introduce a simple grounding or breathing practice so you can get a sense of how we might bring the body into our work. By the end of the session, we’ll begin shaping goals together and talk about next steps. Most of all, I hope you leave feeling heard, a little lighter, and reassured that you don’t have to carry this alone.

Strengths

I bring together the mind and the body in a way that traditional talk therapy often doesn’t. My training spans clinical mental health counseling and sport and exercise science, and I’m also a certified yoga instructor and health coach. In session, that means we don’t just talk about what you’re feeling. We gently notice where it lives in your body, and we use tools like breathwork, grounding, and nervous system regulation to help you actually feel calmer, not just understand why you’re anxious. My clinical work is grounded in evidence-based, person-centered care, drawing from approaches like mindfulness, Gestalt, and Adlerian therapy. My experience in a children’s hospital setting, supporting families through medical crises, trauma, and grief, has made me comfortable sitting with hard things and holding space when life feels overwhelming. Most of all, I bring warmth, steadiness, and lived understanding. I know what it’s like to be a high-achieving mother running on empty. You won’t need to perform or have the right words here. We’ll go at your pace, and you’ll be met with honesty, compassion, and care.

Ideal clients

My ideal client is a capable, thoughtful woman moving through pregnancy, postpartum, or the bigger identity shift of becoming a mother. From the outside, she seems to have it all together. She’s the one others lean on, the planner, the high achiever. Inside, she may feel anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected from her body, or unsure who she is now. She might be struggling with perinatal anxiety or depression, processing a difficult birth, navigating body image changes, or grieving parts of her old life even while she loves her new one. She may be a working mother stretched thin between career and home, or someone who has spent so long caring for everyone else that she’s forgotten how to care for herself. She’s ready for something different. She doesn’t want to just push through or be told to try harder. She’s curious about slowing down, reconnecting with her body, and learning how to feel calm and grounded, not just function. Her goals might include managing anxiety, building self-compassion, feeling at home in her body again, setting boundaries, or rediscovering a sense of self beyond her roles. Most of all, she wants a space where she can stop performing and simply be met with understanding.

Origin story

Before I became a therapist, I spent eight years in banking and finance. On paper, I was doing well. As a mother, though, the pace and pressure left me mentally drained, and I was running on empty while trying to hold everything together at work and at home. I know firsthand how possible it is to look fine on the outside while quietly struggling underneath. I also spent years as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor, where I saw how much people carry in their bodies: stress, pressure, old stories about not being enough. Real change rarely came from pushing harder. It came from feeling safe enough to slow down. Those experiences led me to counseling, and to working with women in particular. So many capable, high-achieving women are struggling in silence, especially as they move into motherhood, a transition that changes everything and is rarely talked about honestly. I became a therapist to offer what I wish I’d had: a space to be fully seen, without having to perform or hold it all together. Helping a woman come hom

Ongoing work together

After our first session, therapy becomes a space that is consistently yours. We’ll usually meet weekly at first, though we can adjust the rhythm to fit your needs and your season of life. Each session is shaped by what you bring that day, while staying connected to the goals we set together. Our work blends talk therapy with gentle, body-based practices. We may explore the patterns, beliefs, and pressures behind what you’re feeling, and also practice tools like breathwork, grounding, and nervous system regulation that you can use between sessions, in the middle of a hard day or a sleepless night. Progress often shows up quietly before it feels big. You might notice that you recover from stressful moments more quickly, or that your anxiety feels less constant. You may find yourself speaking to yourself with more kindness, setting a boundary you once would have avoided, or feeling more present with your baby, your partner, or yourself. Many women describe it as feeling more like themselves again. We’ll check in regularly about how things are going and whether our approach still fits. Therapy is a partnership, and you’ll always have a say in where we go next. The goal is not perfection, but a steadier, more grounded way of being in your life and your body.

Treatment methods

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness is at the heart of how I help women slow down and come back to themselves. Many of the mothers I work with live in their heads: planning, worrying, anticipating everyone else’s needs. Mindfulness gently brings attention back to the present moment and into the body, where real calm can begin. In session, this might look like a short grounding practice at the start, noticing your breath, or pausing to sense where stress or emotion is showing up in your body. We’ll practice observing thoughts and feelings with curiosity instead of judgment, so anxious or self-critical thoughts start to lose some of their grip. I also offer simple, realistic practices you can use in everyday life, during a feeding at 3 a.m., in the car before school pickup, or in a hard moment at work. You don’t need extra time or a perfect routine. Over time, these small moments of presence help your nervous system feel safer, and help you respond to life with more steadiness and self-compassion.
