Collaborative, compassionate therapy to deepen self-understanding, build resilience, and create meaningful change.

First session

The first session is an opportunity for us to begin understanding what brings you to counseling and what you hope to achieve through our work together. I will ask you some questions and invite you to share as much or as little as you feel comfortable sharing. There is no expectation that you have everything figured out before we meet. We will also make time for you to ask questions about my therapeutic approach and the techniques I use to support you as you work toward creating the life you want. Finally, we will review the practical details of my practice, including scheduling appointments, fees, and how I approach situations involving heightened risk or safety concerns, if relevant.

Strengths

Therapy is a space for self-exploration. It is a place to gain deeper insight into your motivations, patterns, and goals. Together, we’ll work to understand and resolve the feelings, anxieties, and worries that may be holding you back, so you can move toward the life and relationships you truly want. My goal is to create a collaborative and supportive environment where you feel safe, heard, understood, and empowered. I will help you build confidence, connection, and self-awareness.

Ideal clients

I specialize in supporting BIPOC women, adolescents (ages 15–18), and young adults (ages 18–22) as they navigate life’s challenges. This includes support during major life transitions, unexpected changes affecting emotional well-being, and the healing of past trauma. In addition, I have worked with professional who are seeking recovery, as well as those who are currently in recovery and striving to maintain it.

Origin story

My goals to do this work were solidified 25 years ago while working at an HIV testing and counseling program. It was there that I witnessed the profound impact of showing up for someone in a moment when their life was shifting dramatically from what they had expected or hoped for. That experience sparked a deep commitment in me—to develop the skills and insight needed to offer meaningful, informed support to others during their most difficult and transformative times.

Ongoing work together

Our sessions will focus on exploring your thoughts, feelings, experiences, and relationships with others. My role is to provide a safe and supportive space where you can deepen your understanding of yourself, build confidence in your abilities, and develop practical tools to help you work toward your goals. Over time, we will build trust and develop a deeper understanding of your personal history, motivations, and hopes for change. We will regularly revisit your goals, reflect on the progress you have made, and discuss whether you would like to adjust or redefine them as your needs and priorities evolve. Therapy is a collaborative process, and your perspective matters. You are always welcome to share feedback about how therapy is working for you, what feels helpful, and what you would like to approach differently. Together, we can adapt our work to best support your needs.

Treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

Therapy is a space for self-exploration, where you can gain deeper insight into your motivations, patterns, and goals. Our work is collaborative: you are the expert in your own life, and my role is to offer support, reflections, and insights, while helping you develop practical coping skills to navigate challenges and move toward your goals. These skills may include techniques for managing stress, navigating intense emotions, and recognizing and working through challenging thought patterns.
