Hi, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Colorado and Texas; I am a Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) in Colorado. I have over 13 years of experience counseling individuals, couples, and groups. I have a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Since 2010, my studies and career have focused on identifying underlying problems contributing to substance use and problematic behaviors. I find that trauma is typically the most common underlying issue that contributes to anxiety, depression, substance use, relationship problems and a lack of self-esteem. I specialize in the treatment of trauma using several approaches: Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT): Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR); and Polyvagal therapy.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
In our first session we will discuss the problems you are experiencing that have brought you to therapy. I will answer any questions you have and we will establish goals you want to achieve in therapy. We will talk about what can work best for your situation and how we will work together to improve the quality of your life.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
Having worked with individuals suffering from trauma, depression, anxiety and substance use I have discovered that while our problems may be similar, we are all individuals with different experiences. It is important to me that you feel heard, understood and respected.
Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.
I love working with individuals who are eager to improve the quality of their life. When we have suffered life-altering disappointments, we tend to feel that we are different from others. When we try to connect with others, sometimes it doesn't work out as anticipated. These disappointments can make us feel there is no hope for us. I am enthusiastic about helping individuals discover their true selves and find meaning and purpose in their lives.
