Jewel Wakefield
Hi! I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who believes that therapy should be a space where you can show up exactly as you are, without judgment or pressure to have everything figured out. Life can be a lot sometimes.
A Safe Space to Heal, Grow, and Rediscover Yourself
Between relationships, work, family, and the expectations we place on ourselves, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed or lose sight of our own needs. I’ve spent my career helping people navigate those moments, whether they’re experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, or major life changes. My approach is warm, genuine, and collaborative. I value meaningful conversations, authentic connections, and helping people recognize strengths they may have forgotten they possess. I believe that healing looks different for everyone, and I’m here to help you discover what it looks like for you.
First session
Our first session is really about getting to know one another. I understand that starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially when you’ve experienced trauma or have spent years keeping difficult experiences to yourself. There’s no expectation that you share your entire story or revisit painful memories before you’re ready. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, what you’ve been experiencing, and what you’re hoping to gain from our time together. I’ll ask questions to better understand your background, current challenges, and the things that matter most to you. We’ll also explore what helps you feel safe, supported, and comfortable throughout the therapeutic process. My goal is for you to leave our first session feeling heard, respected, and empowered to take the next step. We may not solve everything in one conversation, but we’ll begin building a foundation of trust and identifying goals that feel meaningful to you.
Strengths
One of my greatest strengths is my ability to make people feel comfortable being themselves. I know that opening up to someone new isn’t always easy, so I work to create a space where you feel safe, respected, and genuinely heard. I bring empathy, patience, curiosity, and a little humor when appropriate because I believe therapy can be meaningful without always feeling heavy. I’m someone who will listen without judgment, celebrate your progress, and gently challenge you when needed. I also recognize that our experiences don’t happen in a bubble. Our families, relationships, cultures, and communities all shape how we see ourselves and navigate the world. I take time to understand the whole person, not just the challenges that brought them into therapy. Most importantly, I want our sessions to feel like a partnership. You bring your experiences and goals, and I’ll bring support, perspective, and practical tools to help you move forward.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is someone who is ready to make space for themselves, even if they’re not quite sure where to begin. Maybe you’re the person everyone depends on, someone who has spent years putting others first, or someone who is simply tired of carrying the weight of past experiences alone. I enjoy working with adults navigating anxiety, depression, stress, relationship challenges, life transitions, and trauma. I’m especially passionate about supporting survivors of sexual and physical abuse as they work toward healing, rebuilding their sense of safety, and reconnecting with themselves. You don’t have to be in crisis or have everything figured out to benefit from therapy. Whether you’re looking to process difficult experiences, establish healthier boundaries, rebuild confidence, or find more balance in your life, I’m here to meet you where you are. Healing isn’t always a straight path, and you don’t have to navigate it alone.
Treatment methods
Trauma-Informed Care
I believe that healing begins with feeling safe, heard, and understood. In my practice, I use a trauma-informed approach that recognizes how difficult experiences, including sexual abuse, physical abuse, and other forms of trauma, can shape the way we see ourselves, connect with others, and navigate the world. I understand that opening up about painful experiences isn’t always easy, and I never want clients to feel pressured to share more than they’re comfortable with. Instead, I focus on building trust, creating a supportive and nonjudgmental environment, and allowing clients to move at a pace that feels right for them. My approach emphasizes collaboration, choice, and empowerment. Together, we explore how past experiences may be affecting your present life while developing practical tools to manage emotions, establish healthy boundaries, rebuild confidence, and strengthen your sense of safety and control. Above all, I want my clients to know that their experiences matter, their voices deserve to be heard, and their trauma does not define who they are. Healing looks different for everyone, and my role is to walk alongside you as you discover what healing and growth mean for you.
