Hello! My name is Amy Lovelace and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I am currently based in the Greater New York City area and have over 15 years working in the mental health space. My goal for our sessions is to focus completely on your needs by cultivating a warm and inviting atmosphere to nurture the strengths that you already possess. I use an integrative therapeutic approach based on building self-esteem and courage to help clients gain insight into negative thoughts and challenging emotional/behavioral patterns that often get us sidetracked. I provide trauma-informed care that addresses issues surrounding anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationships, career changes, life transitions, domestic abuse, and healthy coping skills. I aim to guide my clients to empower themselves to reach their full potential in their own lives.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Clients can expect our first session to include information-gathering as well as some light exploration of current issues so that we can build a plan to work through in our follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I think my greatest strength as a provider is that I genuinely care about my clients achieving their outcomes and goals. I am an expert in many fields besides counseling: business, management, end-of-life care, parenting, career development, etc., so I bring a large body of knowledge and resources into our work together.

My treatment methods

Compassion Focused

I use Compassion Focused Therapy to create a therapeutic relationship for our work together. CFT is also great for understanding complex emotions and memories.

Positive Psychology

Positive Psychology is a scientific approach to studying human thoughts, feelings, and behavior. I use this modality to focus mostly on strengths instead of weaknesses.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I use Solution Focused Brief Treatment when a client is in need of a solution-focused, goal-oriented approach to their situation.

Existential

Existential therapy focuses on free will, self-determination, and the search for meaning.
