Tammie Delforte-Papas
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker dedicated to helping individuals navigate life's challenges, including trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, and relationship concerns. I believe healing begins in a space built on trust, compassion, and genuine connection. My goal is to help you feel supported, understood, and empowered as you move toward the life you want to create. My approach to therapy is positive, holistic, and collaborative. I believe each person's journey is unique, and we will work together at a pace that feels comfortable for you. Therapy should never feel rushed or pressured. Instead, it should provide space for healing, self-discovery, self-care, and meaningful personal growth.
You Don't Have to Navigate This Alone
I strive to create a warm, nonjudgmental environment where you feel safe sharing your story and exploring the experiences that have shaped your life. Using a trauma-informed and strengths-based approach, I help clients develop insight, build resilience, and navigate difficult emotions, life transitions, and relationship challenges with greater confidence and clarity. Whether you're working through painful past experiences, managing current stressors, or seeking a deeper sense of balance and well-being, you don't have to face it alone. Healing is possible, and I would be honored to walk alongside you on your journey toward hope, growth, and lasting change.
First session
Starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially if it's your first time. My goal is to make the process feel comfortable, welcoming, and free of judgment from the very beginning. During our first session, we'll spend time getting to know each other and discussing what brought you to therapy. You'll have the opportunity to share your concerns, challenges, and goals in a safe and supportive environment. There's no pressure to tell your entire story at once. We will move at a pace that feels right for you. Together, we'll explore what is currently impacting your life, identify areas where you'd like support, and begin developing a plan tailored to your needs. You'll also have the opportunity to ask questions about therapy, learn more about my approach, and determine whether we're a good fit for working together.
Strengths
I bring warmth, compassion, and authenticity to every session. Building a trusting and supportive therapeutic relationship is at the heart of my work, and I strive to create a space where you feel safe, heard, and understood. My approach is trauma-informed, strengths-based, and collaborative. I believe that each person is the expert on their own life, and I work alongside my clients to identify their strengths, build resilience, and create meaningful change. I meet you where you are, honoring your unique experiences and moving at a pace that feels comfortable for you. Clients often appreciate my ability to listen without judgment, provide practical support, and balance empathy with thoughtful challenges that encourage growth. I am committed to helping you gain insight, develop effective coping strategies, and feel empowered to navigate life's challenges with greater confidence and self-compassion.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is someone who may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or emotionally exhausted and is ready for support. They may be struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, or life transitions that have made it difficult to feel like themselves. While they may not have all the answers, they are open to exploring their experiences and taking steps toward healing and growth. Many of my clients are looking for a safe, nonjudgmental space where they can process difficult emotions, gain insight into patterns that no longer serve them, and build healthier ways of coping. Together, we work toward greater self-awareness, resilience, balance, and a stronger sense of well-being.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I believe there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. Every client brings unique experiences, strengths, and goals to the therapeutic process. That's why I integrate several evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy, tailoring treatment to your individual needs. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I help clients identify unhelpful thought patterns and beliefs that may be contributing to anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, or other challenges. Together, we work on developing healthier perspectives and practical coping strategies that support emotional well-being. By combining these approaches, I help clients gain insight, build coping skills, strengthen resilience, and create positive changes that align with their values and goals. Therapy is a collaborative process, and my goal is to support and empower you as you move toward healing, growth, and a more fulfilling life.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) provides valuable tools for managing intense emotions, improving relationships, reducing stress, and increasing emotional regulation. Clients learn skills related to mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness, helping them navigate challenges with greater confidence and resilience.
Solution-Focused Brief Treatment
Through a Solution-Focused approach, we identify strengths, resources, and successes rather than focusing solely on problems. Together, we explore what is working, clarify goals, and develop practical steps toward achieving meaningful and lasting chang
Person-centered (Rogerian)
Person-Centered Therapy serves as the foundation of my work. I strive to create a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where you feel genuinely heard, accepted, and understood. I believe that healing and growth occur when clients feel safe enough to explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences openly.
Gottman method
hen working with couples, I draw from the Gottman Method, a research-based approach designed to help partners strengthen their relationship, improve communication, and deepen emotional connection. This method focuses on understanding the patterns that contribute to conflict and helping couples develop practical skills to create healthier, more fulfilling relationships. Using Gottman Method principles, I help couples: Improve communication and listening skills Navigate conflict in healthy and productive ways Strengthen trust, friendship, and emotional intimacy Increase understanding of one another's needs and experiences Break negative interaction patterns Build tools for managing stress and relationship challenges together In sessions, we explore the strengths of your relationship as well as the areas that may be causing tension or disconnection. Couples learn practical strategies they can apply in everyday life to improve connection, foster mutual respect, and create lasting positive change. Whether you are experiencing communication difficulties, recurring conflict, life transitions, trust concerns, or simply want to strengthen your relationship, the Gottman Method provides a structured and effective framework for growth. My goal is to help both partners feel heard, understood, and supported as we work together to build a stronger, healthier relationship.
