Britta Neinast
Hi, I'm Britta Neinast, a licensed clinical social worker. I have years of professional and personal experience understanding anxiety and mental health struggles. Many of us are crippled with anxiety and self-doubt. Despite messages and advice, we still feel misunderstood and alone. I believe we are looking at the problem of anxiety incorrectly. The conventional wisdom is learning how to “cope" and fight your tension. I believe this approach is misleading because it gives the impression there is something wrong with you. Anxiety is your friend and has a purpose. When you listen more to what anxiety is trying to teach you, it will make sense.
After years of working with men, women, and families, I can help you figure out exactly what you need to do next.
First session
In our first session, we will spend time getting to know each other. We'll discuss your story, your frustrations, and goals for counseling. Together, we'll create a plan designed specifically for you to help reach those goals.
Strengths
You are the hero of your story. My greatest gift is to guide you to see clearly what's happening now, where you want to be, and how to get there. It is simple but it is not always easy. That's why I'm here, to walk with you as you discover more about yourself and what it means to heal.
Ideal clients
If you have tried everything, you've read all the books, and listened to podcasts but still feel stuck, then we will work well together. Many of my clients come to me after years of searching for answers and doing everything they can to create change, yet something still isn’t clicking. If you are ready to understand what’s holding you back and work through it in a meaningful, lasting way, we will work very well together. My clients are committed to figuring this out once and for all.
Treatment methods
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
It's natural to resist the problems that cause you pain. Your nervous system goes into action, or better stated "reaction." Though it's natural, fighting or running causes the most pain. I help you learn the skills of accepting things as they are, even if you disagree, and then help you decide what you want to do moving forward.
Narrative
Every problem you face has a "story" you're telling yourself. Your story will either help you through it or keep you stuck. I help you get very clear about the story you're telling yourself. Together, we will rewrite a story that makes sense and leaves you feeling empowered to know what you need to do next.
