Hi there! I'm Gily and I am glad you found me. Are you a mama feeling the invisible load of motherhood? Are you finding it hard to connect with your family and children because of burnout? Or are you a new mama feeling overwhelmed with life with a new baby?

These sessions will be the heart of therapy; we will explore things further, teach you specific skills depending on our therapy goals, and embrace your journey of healing.

As a mother myself, I can say I’ve been on the other side of the motherhood trenches (and still am from time to time) and there’s nothing more isolating than navigating parenthood with limited support. I help mothers in all stages of their motherhood helping to regain joy and control back into their lives. Parenting is not easy, and together we can identify ways to overcome specific challenges and stressors. With my client-centered and nurturing approach, I'll provide you with a safe place, free from shame and judgment, for you to share your feelings. Whether you have a strong-willed child, suffer from depression or anxiety, carry most of the child-rearing tasks, or simply need someone to talk to, I'm here for you. Together we can get you to be the mother you want to be.

First session

In the first session with me I will want to get to know you and your challenges. I really want to understand what you are struggling with so I can best help you. This means I will ask different questions and I will also be mindful of not making you feel overwhelm with loads of questions. I will also allow you the space to ask me questions related to my experience working with clients with your similar challenges, my expertise and anything related to my experience as a therapist.

Strengths

Because I am a parent myself I can relate to the challenges and burnout parents face day to day. I've worked with parents in different modalities; support groups, individual sessions, family sessions, and as a school advocate for parents of children with academic needs.

Ideal clients

I primarily work with adult men and women struggling with the demands of parenting and trying to juggle parenthood and work life balance. The clients I work with struggle with anxiety and or managing the stress of home and work life. I hold space for clients that want a safe space to share vulnerable feelings and their own unique challenges with parenthood. I also work with postpartum mothers that are navigating the challenges of becoming a new mom or mothers that suspect they are struggling with postpartum depression and or postpartum anxiety.

Treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I use ACT to help clients live a more meaningful life even when their anxious thoughts and feelings show up uninvited. ACT helps clients build more tolerance to feel distress and discomfort. Life is painful sometimes and we can still learn to live a meaningful one along side the pain and suffering.

Gily made me feel better from the first session. Each session feels grounding, but also productive--she always gives thoughtful feedback to help me continue to work on myself between sessions. She also creates a really non-judgmental space where I always leave feeling heard and supported.
