Erica McQueen
Hi, I'm Erica McQueen, MA, LCMHCS,, a North Carolina licensed mental health counselor and clinical supervisor. I'm also the owner of Creative Vibes Counseling and Consulting, PLLC, where my work includes mental wellness support, career counseling, and clinical supervision. One of my favorite parts of being a therapist is getting to know people and building the kind of relationship where they feel comfortable telling me how they're really doing. I'm warm, down-to-earth, and direct when it helps. I bring creativity into our conversations, and I like to make what we talk about practical enough to use between sessions.
One of my favorite parts of being a therapist is getting to know people and building the kind of relationship where they feel comfortable telling me how they're really doing.
First session
In our first sessions, I'll ask what brought you to therapy now, how it's affecting your daily life, and what you hope will change. We'll talk about what you've already tried, what's helped, and what feels most important to work on first. I'll explain how I work and make time for your questions. My hope is that you leave feeling heard, more comfortable with the process and clear about where we'll start. In individual therapy, we'll focus on your experience and explore how your thoughts, emotions, and coping patterns affect the concerns that brought you in. With couples, I make room for both perspectives and help you notice what happens between you when a conversation gets difficulty. In family sessions, I invite each person to share what they're experiencing and what they'd like to see change. From there, we identify a shared goal and a manageable first step.
Strengths
One of my greatest strengths is building a trusting therapeutic relationship while bringing structure and direction to our work. My experience as a counselor and clinical supervisor helps me listen closely, ask thoughtful questions, and help you identify patterns in how you respond to stress and relate to others. At Creative Vibes Counseling and Consulting, PLLC, I bring warmth, creativity and direct feedback to our sessions. We'll work together to build on your strengths and practice skills you can use in daily life, whether you're setting boundaries, navigating a career transition, or finding new ways to cope with stress.
Ideal clients
I enjoy working with adults who are navigating changes in their relationships, family roles, and careers. You might be weighing a career change, adjusting to new responsibilities, or realizing that being the person everyone counts on has left little room for your own needs. You may come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, second-guessing your decisions, or struggling to set boundaries without guilt. You're looking for a therapist who listens closely, asks thoughtful questions, and offers hones feedback. My approach is collaborative and practical. We'll explore how your thoughts, emotions, and coping patterns show up in everyday life, then work together to decide what you want to change and practice skills you can use between sessions.
Origin story
I was drawn to the counseling profession because I wanted to understand how life experiences shape the way people cope, relate to others, and respond to stress. What continues to inspire me is the therapeutic relationships and the trust it takes for clients to explore patterns that may be keeping them stuck. At Creative Vibes Counseling and Consulting, PLLC, I value working collaboratively with clients to build on their strengths, develop coping skills and translate what they learn in therapy into changes that matter in their daily lives.
Ongoing work together
Our first session gives us a starting point. In later sessions, we'll check on what's happened since we last met and connect thoes experiences to the goals we've set together. As we get to know your patterns, we'll look more closely at what tends to trigger stress, how you respond in the moment, and what helps you respond differently.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
As an LCMHCS, I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy into my practice as a structured, evidence-based approach to helping clients identify and change unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviors. My role is to help clients recognize the pattern, evaluate the thought, and develop healthier responses.
