Gabriel Murphy
Hi, I’m a psychotherapist in Prescott. I help people understand and find a little freedom from old patterns of thinking, feeling, and acting. Maybe you’re too hard on yourself, or telling yourself everything’s fine, or stuck living smaller than you mean to. My style is warm and unhurried, and I’m led by what you actually want.
The habits that now hold us back made sense once.
I see adults by telehealth across Arizona.
Strengths
I’m more supportive than confrontational. We start with what you want from therapy, then look together at what’s getting in the way. The habits that hold us back usually made sense once, often as ways of protecting ourselves, so I approach them with patience and respect rather than trying to fix you.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is an adult who is curious about themselves and wants more than a quick fix. I'm particularly drawn to people who tend to put others first: who find it hard to say no, feel responsible for everyone’s feelings, or lose track of what they want for themselves. Whatever brings you in, you don’t need to have it all figured out, just some sense of what you’d like to be different.
Origin story
I’ve always been drawn to understanding how the mind works, and to the question of what helps someone change and what keeps them from it. I wanted to be in the room for that, helping people explore themselves and live more fully. Living that question with people is where I feel most myself.
