Terri Rawson
Hi, I’m Terri! I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor with 11+ years of experience helping adults navigate life’s challenges. I believe therapy should be a comfortable, supportive space where you can be yourself, feel heard, and know you’re not being judged. My approach is compassionate, practical, and collaborative.
Life can be challenging, and sometimes we all need someone in our corner. I provide a supportive, judgement-free space where you can feel heard, work through life's challenges, build confidence, and find practical ways to move forward.
I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy to help clients build confidence, develop healthier perspectives, recognize their strengths, and make meaningful changes. I enjoy working with individuals experiencing anxiety, stress, grief, life transitions, relationship challenges, and self-esteem concerns. My goal is to help you feel supported while finding a path forward that works for you.
First session
My hope is that you leave our first session feeling comfortable, heard, and a little less alone with whatever brought you to therapy. I don’t expect you to have everything figured out or know exactly what to say. We’ll spend time getting to know each other, talking about what’s going on in your life, and figuring out what you would like to get out of counseling. I want therapy to feel like a conversation, not an interview. We’ll work together to identify what matters most to you and develop a plan that feels realistic and right for your life.
Strengths
I bring warmth, compassion, honesty, and a genuine interest in helping people move forward. I create a space where clients feel comfortable being open and honest, without fear of judgment. I’m a good listener, but I’m also not afraid to ask the difficult questions, offer a different perspective, or gently challenge patterns that may be holding someone back. I believe in balancing understanding with practical strategies, encouragement, and accountability. My goal is for clients to feel heard, empowered, and capable of making meaningful changes.
Ideal clients
I enjoy working with adults who may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, or simply unsure of what their next chapter looks like. Maybe you’re juggling work, family, relationships, or responsibilities while trying to keep everything together. Maybe you’re struggling with confidence, grief, stress, or a life change you didn’t see coming. You don’t have to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. I welcome people who are ready to better understand themselves, work through challenges, and make changes at their own pace. You don’t need to have all the answers before you start.
Origin story
I chose this profession because I genuinely enjoy helping people recognize their strengths and realize they don’t have to navigate life’s challenges alone. I believe everyone deserves to feel heard, understood, and supported without judgment. One of the most rewarding parts of my work is watching people gain confidence, discover new perspectives, and recognize that change is possible, even when life feels overwhelming. Being able to make a difference in someone’s journey is what makes this profession meaningful to me.
Ongoing work together
Therapy is an ongoing conversation, and every session builds on where we left off. We’ll check in on what’s been happening, talk about the challenges you’re facing, recognize the progress you’ve made, and work through anything that may be getting in your way. Sometimes that means learning new ways to manage stress or change unhelpful thought patterns. Other times, it may mean building confidence, finding motivation, or looking at a situation from a different perspective. I use a combination of CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, tailoring our work to what you need. Progress doesn’t mean having everything figured out. It’s about recognizing the small changes that add up over time.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence one another. Together, we identify patterns that may be keeping them stuck and explore healthier ways to approach challenges. I focus on practical strategies clients can use in everyday life to manage stress, build confidence, and create meaningful changes. My approach also incorporates motivational and solution-focused techniques based on each client’s individual needs.
Motivational Interviewing
Sometimes we know we want things to change, but taking that first step can feel difficult. I use Motivational Interviewing to help clients explore their feelings about change, work through uncertainty, and discover their own motivation. Rather than telling clients what they should do, I help them recognize what matters to them, identify what may be holding them back, and build confidence in their ability to move forward.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
I believe the relationship between therapist and client is one of the most important parts of counseling. I strive to create a comfortable, accepting space where clients feel safe being themselves and talking openly about what’s going on in their lives. I meet clients where they are, respect their individual experiences, and believe they are the experts on their own lives. My role is to support, encourage, and help them discover their own path forward.
Solution-Focused Brief Treatment
I use a solution-focused approach to help clients look beyond what’s not working and begin recognizing what is possible. Together, we identify personal strengths, explore what’s already going well, and focus on realistic steps toward change. I enjoy helping clients recognize that progress doesn’t have to happen all at once. Sometimes the smallest changes can create the biggest differences in how we feel and move through life.
