Samantha Cook
Hi! I’m a LMFT in Colorado who is passionate about helping individuals navigate life’s challenges, build confidence, and develop healthier relationships with themselves and others. My practice provides a supportive, nonjudgmental space to explore emotions, work through anxiety, establish healthy boundaries, and create meaningful change.
One of my greatest strengths is my systemic perspective, which allows me to look beyond individual challenges and explore how relationships, family dynamics, life experiences, and environments shape a person’s thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.
I believe everyone deserves to feel understood and empowered as they grow toward a more fulfilling, balanced life.
First session
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another, explore what brought you to therapy, and begin identifying what you hope to gain from the process. I strive to create a comfortable, judgment-free space where you feel heard, understood, and safe to be yourself. Together, we will begin exploring your experiences, recognizing patterns that may be impacting your life, and identifying goals for our work together. You don't need to have everything figured out before you begin. Just come as you are, with a willingness to explore and grow.
Strengths
One of my greatest strengths is my systemic perspective, which allows me to look beyond individual challenges and explore how relationships, family dynamics, life experiences, and environments shape a person’s thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I bring curiosity, empathy, and a collaborative approach to sessions, helping clients recognize patterns, build self-awareness, and identify opportunities for change. I strive to create a safe, supportive space where clients feel understood while also being gently challenged to explore new perspectives and develop healthier ways of relating to themselves and others.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is someone who is motivated to grow, open to self-reflection, and willing to put in the work to create meaningful change in their life. They may be navigating anxiety, relationship challenges, life transitions, or patterns they are ready to understand and change. I enjoy working with clients who are curious about themselves, open to exploring new perspectives, and committed to taking intentional steps toward healthier relationships, greater self-awareness, and a more fulfilling life.
Ongoing work together
Our work together will be collaborative, intentional, and focused on helping you create meaningful, lasting change. We will explore patterns in your thoughts, emotions, relationships, and experiences to better understand what may be keeping you stuck and identify healthier ways of responding. Sessions will provide space for reflection, practical tools, and opportunities to challenge old patterns while building on your existing strengths. Progress may look like feeling more confident in yourself, managing emotions with greater ease, setting healthier boundaries, communicating more effectively, and responding to life's challenges in ways that align with your values. We will regularly revisit your goals and celebrate growth along the way, recognizing that progress isn't always linear but is built through consistent effort and a willingness to grow.
Treatment methods
Gottman method
The Gottman Method is an evidence-based approach to couples therapy that helps partners strengthen their emotional connection, improve communication, and navigate conflict in healthier ways. It teaches couples to recognize negative interaction patterns, express their needs effectively, build trust, and develop a deeper understanding of one another. By focusing on building friendship, managing conflict, and creating shared meaning, the Gottman Method helps couples develop a stronger, more secure, and lasting relationship.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Internal Family Systems is a therapeutic approach that helps individuals understand and work with the different parts of themselves, including parts that carry fear, anxiety, hurt, or protective responses. It helps clients develop self-compassion, understand the underlying emotions and experiences that influence their behaviors, and build a healthier relationship with themselves. By learning to approach these parts with curiosity rather than judgment, clients can process past experiences, improve emotional regulation, and create greater balance and confidence in their daily lives.
