Kristopher Reyes
Growing up a child of two Marines, talk therapy was not a process I discussed or even knew about other than the random Freudian Psychotherapy reference in movies or on television. Growing up with the male stereotype that men have no emotions or are unbothered by them, I always felt like the odd person out, I had them and typically felt controlled by them.
Change is not hard... it's choosing to do it everyday that is the most difficult.
Through self explorations in college and talking with a variety of mentors about direction in life, i was urged to explore counseling. In the process of working on my self, I found what I felt is a calling and a way to give back.
Strengths
When I have asked clients what has been the most helpful for them in this process, the answer has typically been the Brutal Honesty. When asked what they struggled with the most about our sessions the answer was typically the same. Most of us tend to struggle with the things we know but cringe when we hear it out loud.
Treatment methods
Person-centered (Rogerian)
My approach is about getting an understanding of all that is happening in an individuals life and working with them to develop a plan or program that will help them move toward making changes in their daily lives.
