I believe that being human is beautifully complicated. We all carry experiences that shape how we think, feel, connect, and navigate the world. Some of those experiences strengthen us, while others leave us questioning who we are, why we feel the way we do, or how to move forward. As a therapist, I bring warmth, curiosity, authenticity, and a genuine appreciation for the complexities of the human experience. My approach is compassionate but also direct. I believe meaningful growth comes from feeling understood while also being gently challenged to explore the patterns, beliefs, and experiences that may be keeping you stuck. I don't believe therapy should feel like someone simply nodding and asking how that makes you feel. I believe it should be a collaborative experience that encourages insight, self-discovery, and lasting change.

My practice is rooted in compassion, authenticity, and a deep understanding of the complexities of human experiences. I provide individualized, evidence-based therapy for a wide range of mental health concerns, creating a supportive environment where clients can experience meaningful healing, strengthen emotional well-being, and rediscover their capacity for growth.

My own life experiences have deepened my understanding that resilience doesn't always look like strength, healing isn't always linear, and sometimes simply navigating another day requires tremendous courage. These perspectives influence how I connect with others, allowing me to approach each person with humility, understanding, and respect for their individual journey. I have a particular passion for understanding the deeper layers of human behavior, especially the ways trauma, relationships, and life experiences influence our sense of self. I welcome difficult conversations, complicated emotions, and the parts of your story you may have never felt comfortable sharing. Above all, I believe you deserve to be seen as a whole person, not a diagnosis, a collection of symptoms, or the most difficult chapter of your life. My goal is to help you better understand yourself, recognize your strengths, and discover that meaningful change is possible without losing the parts of yourself that make you who you are.

First session

Taking the first step toward therapy can feel intimidating, especially when you're unsure of what to expect. I want our first session to feel less like an appointment and more like the beginning of a meaningful conversation, one where you can show up exactly as you are, without judgment, pressure, or expectations. Our initial session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. I'll take time to understand your experiences, what brought you to therapy, the challenges you may be facing, and what you hope to gain from our work together. We'll also explore your strengths, discuss your goals, and begin identifying an approach that feels meaningful and appropriate for your individual needs. I recognize that trust isn't something that happens automatically, and I don't expect you to share your entire life story in our first meeting. You are welcome to ask questions, express uncertainty, and move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. My hope is that you leave our first session feeling heard, respected, and more confident about what the therapeutic process can offer you. You don't need to have everything figured out before walking through the door. The first session isn't about having all the answers. It's about beginning a conversation that may help you discover them.

Strengths

I believe therapy should be more than a place where you talk about your struggles. It should be a place where you begin to understand yourself in ways you never have before. My approach goes beyond addressing symptoms; I want to understand the person beneath them, the experiences that shaped them, and the patterns that may have once served as protection but now stand in the way of growth. What makes my approach different is the balance of compassion, authenticity, curiosity, and honest reflection I bring into the therapeutic relationship. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach, nor do I believe meaningful change comes from simply telling someone what they want to hear. I believe in asking thoughtful questions, exploring uncomfortable truths without judgment, and helping you recognize connections between your past experiences and present challenges. I draw from a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches while recognizing that no two people experience life, trauma, or healing in quite the same way. I value the complexity of human behavior and believe that even our most difficult emotional responses often have a story worth understanding. You won't find judgment, unrealistic expectations, or pressure to become someone you're not. Instead, you'll find a therapist who is genuinely invested in understanding your world, willing to explore its complexities alongside you, and committed to helping you develop the insight, confidence, and tools to create meaningful change. My goal isn't to change who you are. It's to help you understand who you've become, why, and who you have the potential to be.

Ideal clients

My ideal client is simply someone who is willing to take the first step toward understanding themselves and beginning their healing journey, regardless of where they are in life or what brings them to therapy. I believe therapy is a deeply personal experience, and everyone deserves the opportunity to feel heard, understood, and supported without judgment. My clinical experience and areas of specialization encompass a diverse range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, LGBTQ+ experiences and identity-related concerns, borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and other complex emotional and psychological challenges. I recognize that every individual brings a unique story, and I believe effective therapy begins with understanding the person beyond their diagnosis. Whether you're navigating life's challenges, processing painful experiences, seeking healthier relationships, managing mental health symptoms, or simply hoping to understand yourself on a deeper level, there is value in creating space for personal exploration and growth. You don't need to have everything figured out, know exactly what you want to work on, or even feel ready to make significant changes. Therapy isn't about meeting someone else's expectations of who you should be. It's about discovering what matters to you, recognizing your strengths, and finding your own path forward. I welcome individuals from all walks of life, with different experiences, perspectives, and goals. What matters most to me is building a genuine therapeutic relationship grounded in trust, respect, authenticity, and collaboration. You don't need to have the right words or know where to begin. You simply need a place where you can be yourself, and we can begin there together.

Origin story

I've always believed that every person has a story worth understanding, especially the chapters they've never felt safe enough to share. What drew me to becoming a therapist was more than a fascination with the human mind. It was a profound appreciation for the strength it takes to be human, particularly when life has given us every reason to feel defeated. I've always been drawn to understanding what lies beneath the surface of human behavior. Why we love the way we do, why we protect ourselves in certain ways, why we repeat patterns that hurt us, and how our experiences shape the people we become. I believe that behind every struggle is a story, and behind every story is a person who deserves to be understood rather than judged. Life has taught me that strength doesn't always look like confidence, that survival sometimes comes at the expense of our sense of self, and that even the strongest people need somewhere they can put down the weight they've been carrying. I chose this profession because I believe no one should have to navigate their most difficult moments feeling invisible, misunderstood, or alone. There is something profoundly meaningful about witnessing someone begin to understand themselves, find their voice, and rediscover parts of themselves they thought were lost. For me, being a therapist isn't simply what I do. It reflects what I value most about humanity: our capacity to endure, to connect, to grow, and to find meaning even in the experiences that have challenged us the most.

Ongoing work together

I believe therapy should be more than a place to talk about life's challenges. It should be a place where emotional challenges are met with compassion, healing is nurtured, and lasting personal growth is supported. Whether you're experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma-related distress, difficulties with emotional regulation, complex mental health conditions, or other challenges affecting your psychological well-being, my goal is to help you better understand your symptoms, develop effective ways to manage them, and work toward greater emotional stability, psychological wellness, and an improved quality of life. Our ongoing work together will be collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in evidence-based therapeutic approaches tailored to your individual needs and experiences. We'll focus not only on understanding the experiences that have shaped you, but also on addressing the emotional, cognitive, and behavioral symptoms that may be interfering with your daily functioning, relationships, and overall sense of self. Depending on your needs, our work may include trauma processing, emotional regulation, challenging unhelpful thought patterns, strengthening coping skills, improving interpersonal relationships, and developing strategies to manage complex mental health symptoms. I believe healing looks different for everyone. For some, progress means experiencing fewer panic attacks, finding relief from depression, or learning to manage overwhelming emotions. For others, it may mean reducing self-destructive behaviors, navigating mood fluctuations, developing healthier relationships, or learning to live more confidently and independently while managing a chronic mental health condition. Healing doesn't always mean eliminating every symptom; sometimes it means reclaiming the ability to live a meaningful and fulfilling life despite the challenges you face. Throughout our work together, we'll regularly evaluate your progress, celebrate meaningful improvements, and adjust your treatment goals as your needs evolve. I want you to recognize your growth not only in how you think and feel, but also in how you function, connect with others, and experience your everyday life. I understand that healing is rarely linear and that setbacks can be part of the process. My commitment is to provide a therapeutic relationship where you feel supported, understood, and empowered while we work toward lasting emotional and psychological well-being. My ultimate goal is not simply to help you understand what you've been through, but to help you heal from what has hurt you, manage what challenges you, and build a life that feels meaningful, stable, and authentically yours.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients better understand the powerful connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and how these patterns influence their mental health and everyday experiences. Our thoughts can shape how we perceive ourselves, others, and the world around us, sometimes reinforcing emotional distress, negative beliefs, and behaviors that keep us feeling stuck. Through CBT, I work collaboratively with clients to identify unhelpful thinking patterns, challenge deeply rooted beliefs, and develop healthier, more balanced ways of responding to life's challenges. This approach can be particularly beneficial for individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma-related symptoms, emotional distress, and other mental health concerns. My approach extends beyond simply encouraging positive thinking. It's about helping you develop a more realistic, compassionate, and empowering relationship with your thoughts while learning practical skills to manage difficult emotions and behaviors. Together, we'll explore strategies that promote emotional regulation, strengthen problem-solving abilities, reduce distressing symptoms, and improve your overall quality of life. My goal is to help you recognize that while you may not always have control over what happens around you, you can develop greater awareness, confidence, and flexibility in how you respond.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I incorporate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients strengthen emotional regulation, develop distress tolerance, improve interpersonal relationships, and practice mindfulness. Through a balance of acceptance and meaningful change, I help clients manage overwhelming emotions, reduce self-destructive behaviors, and develop healthier coping strategies that promote emotional stability, resilience, and lasting psychological well-being.

Gender-affirming therapy

I incorporate gender-affirming therapy by providing a compassionate, inclusive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients can safely explore their gender identity, experiences, and personal goals. My approach emphasizes self-acceptance, autonomy, and empowerment while addressing challenges related to identity, relationships, discrimination, and emotional well-being. I strive to help each client feel respected, validated, and supported in living authentically.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I incorporate person-centered and humanistic therapy by creating a compassionate, authentic, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel genuinely heard, valued, and understood. Through empathy, unconditional positive regard, and collaborative exploration, I help clients recognize their inherent strengths, deepen self-awareness, and foster self-acceptance, personal growth, and meaningful healing at their own pace.

Solution-Focused Brief Treatment

I incorporate Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) by helping clients identify their strengths, recognize existing resources, and develop practical, achievable goals. Rather than focusing exclusively on problems, I emphasize solutions, personal resilience, and meaningful progress, empowering clients to build on what is already working and create positive, sustainable changes in their lives.
