My treatment methods

Attachment-based

In my counseling practice, I use an attachment-based approach by helping clients understand how early relationships and emotional experiences shape the way they connect with others, regulate emotions, and view themselves. I pay attention to patterns of trust, closeness, abandonment fears, emotional withdrawal, or people-pleasing, while creating a therapeutic relationship that feels emotionally safe, consistent, and supportive. Through this process, clients can explore relational wounds, increase self-awareness, and begin building healthier, more secure ways of connecting with themselves and others.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

In my counseling practice, I utilize emotionally focused therapy by helping clients identify, understand, and process the deeper emotions that influence behaviors, reactions, and relationship patterns. I support clients in moving beneath surface-level responses such as anger, withdrawal, or defensiveness to better understand unmet needs, fears, and vulnerabilities. Whether working with individuals or relationships, I help clients strengthen emotional awareness, foster more secure emotional connections, and develop healthier ways of communicating and responding to themselves and others.

Relational

In my counseling practice, I use a relational approach by recognizing that healing often happens within the context of safe, authentic connection. I emphasize the therapeutic relationship as an important space for trust, emotional exploration, and corrective experiences. I help clients examine interpersonal patterns, boundaries, communication styles, and the ways past relationships may influence present dynamics. Through collaboration, empathy, and genuine connection, I support clients in developing healthier, more fulfilling relationships both within and outside of therapy.

Strength-Based

In my counseling practice, I take a strength-based approach by helping clients recognize their resilience, capabilities, and existing internal resources, even during difficult seasons of life. Rather than focusing solely on problems or symptoms, I work collaboratively to identify strengths, values, coping skills, and past successes that can support growth and healing. I believe clients are more than the challenges they face, and I aim to empower them by building confidence, fostering hope, and highlighting their capacity for change and meaningful progress.

Trauma-Focused CBT

In my counseling practice, I incorporate trauma-focused CBT by helping clients understand the impact of traumatic experiences on thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and nervous system responses. I support clients in identifying unhelpful beliefs that may have developed from trauma, such as shame, guilt, fear, or self-blame, and work collaboratively to challenge and reframe those patterns. I integrate coping skills, emotional regulation tools, grounding strategies, and psychoeducation to help clients feel more empowered, while moving at a pace that prioritizes emotional safety and stabilization. I am also trained in Jungian EMDR.

Stephanie made me feel understood very quickly. I appreciated that she was direct without being judgmental, curious without making assumptions, and able to help me organize complicated relationship and attachment patterns in a way that felt clear and useful. I left the session feeling seen, challenged in a healthy way, and hopeful about continuing the work.
