Erica Smith
I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with more than 20 years of experience helping people navigate anxiety, life transitions, grief and loss, and the challenges that can come with being neurodivergent. I especially enjoy working with thoughtful, capable people who may look like they have everything together on the outside while privately feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or exhausted. My approach is warm, collaborative, and curious. Rather than focusing only on managing symptoms, I want to understand why the pattern is happening in the first place. Together, we look at the thoughts, emotions, behaviors, relationships, and experiences that may be keeping you stuck.
While I offer compassionate challenges, encouragement, and accountability, my primary focus remains on aiding you in achieving your goals.
First session
In our first session, we'll dive deep into the challenges you're facing, develop a personalized plan, and kickstart our journey toward achieving your goals. Establishing a solid rapport is paramount, laying the foundation for effective collaboration as we progress. Our interventions will encompass various strategies, such as cognitive reframing, acquiring somatic and coping techniques, and unraveling the underlying reasons behind your thoughts, behaviors, and emotions.
Strengths
My therapeutic approach is founded on non-judgmental support, infused with warmth, humor, and validation. I understand the universal desire to feel acknowledged and understood. While I offer compassionate challenges, encouragement, and accountability, my primary focus remains on aiding you in achieving your goals. Collaboratively, we'll craft a tailored treatment roadmap. Transformation often initiates during our initial sessions, with ongoing growth unfolding progressively thereafter.
Ideal clients
I'm passionate about empowering women to reach their fullest potential. Juggling career, family, and societal pressures often leads to anxiety and unwarranted guilt among women, who may feel they are never doing or being enough. My aim is to assist women in shifting their mindset and acquiring effective communication techniques. This enables them to confidently establish boundaries both in their personal relationships and professional environments.
Treatment methods
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I am recently trained in ACT and have found my clients really like the mindfulness and acceptance components.
