Starting therapy can feel empowering, confusing, or even intimidating—and it’s worth taking a moment to recognize the courage it takes to take this first step toward caring for your mental health. I strive to create a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment where you can explore challenges related to anxiety, depression, self-care, and more. My goal is to help you strengthen communication and boundaries with yourself and others so that you can improve your quality of life and move toward the future you envision. Therapy is not just about overcoming obstacles—it’s also about personal growth. Together, we’ll clarify your goals and identify strategies to help you move toward them, whether that means change over the next month, six months, or a year. You’ll leave our sessions with practical insights and “next steps” you can put into action right away. I believe life’s purpose isn’t simply to be happy, but to find meaning—and within that meaning, joy emerges. While the journey isn’t always easy, it can be transformative. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified Addictions Professional, Internationally Certified Drug Counselor, and Behavior Analyst. I take a strength-based approach, helping you use your unique abilities to address challenges. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing to empower you in creating lasting change. Most importantly, I bring a relaxed, compassionate, and trustworthy presence, fostering a therapeutic relationship where you feel safe and supported.

Have you ever felt like you cannot find the energy or motivation to do the most basic tasks? Or felt like your brain will not shut off? Have you ever struggled with losing someone that you love and feel as if you will never make it out of the fog? Have you experienced a traumatic event and need help managing the thoughts and feelings that come up after the experience? Are you feeling stuck in your life, or just listless? Are you struggling with substance abuse and the impact of usage in your professional and personal life? Do you have a history of self-harm or self-harming thoughts? If any of the above questions resonated with you, I am here for you. I bring over ten years of clinical counseling experience focused on depression, anxiety, end-of-life, grief therapy, substance abuse, self-harming thoughts and attempts, insomnia, and trauma therapy. I am seasoned in case management and navigating medical crises in the hospital environment. I enjoy helping my patients and families navigate end-of-life care planning. I am trained in using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), brief CBT-I to treat Insomnia, and Guided Imagery to assist my patients with navigating a multitude of treatment needs. I am also certified in providing sexual assault survivor group counseling and psychoeducation. I love helping my patients see that they do have a purpose in this life and a reason to live it with happiness. I love seeing my clients learn techniques that they can independently use to continue to help themselves outside of the one-on-one time we have together. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Florida. I moved to Florida from Nashville but have roots in Mississippi and Virginia. I graduated from the University of Phoenix in April of 2014 with a Bachelors of Science in Health Administration. I used that degree to enroll at Capella University where I earned a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in March of 2021. My passion for counseling started when I was very young. In my teenage years I participated in groups that worked to prevent teen suicide. This interest eventually worked its way into my adult life as a career in the mental health field. My first position after graduating with my Masters was assisting individuals whose substance abuse lead to involvement in the criminal justice system. Building on that, I also have experience with Veterans' issues, grief and loss, eating disorders, LGBTQ+, relationships, depression, anxiety, social fears and many other mental health diagnoses. I don’t believe that there is a one size fits all approach to an individual’s mental health. I use a wide range of techniques to best help my clients to achieve the goals they set forth during their time in treatment by developing strategies and coping skills to achieve optimal mental health.

Before becoming a therapist, I spent two decades teaching and coaching young adults, which means I am fluent in motivation, humor (sometimes sarcasm), and the art of redirecting chaos into purpose. This makes me particularly tuned in to working with veterans, teens/young adults, neurodivergent powerhouses and anyone who is looking for a unique version of therapy. I blend advocacy, multicultural awareness, and deep compassion to support clients through the hard stuff while celebrating the good stuff.

If you’ve tried therapy and still feel stuck, the approach may be the problem, not you. Many of my clients have already done “the work,” and talking through their struggles wasn’t enough. They needed a more targeted treatment from the start. If you know your thoughts aren’t rational but can’t stop them, feel trapped by routines you can’t break, are avoiding more of your life to manage anxiety, or have withdrawn and lost motivation, that’s what I treat. I use Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), a form of exposure therapy, along with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), behavioral activation, and Habit Reversal Training. These are structured, evidence-based treatments, and every session is practical, so you leave with tools you can use right away. I work with adults dealing with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) in all its forms, including intrusive thoughts, contamination fears, harm and relationship OCD, “Pure O,” and taboo themes that feel shameful or out of character. There’s no thought too disturbing to bring to me. I also treat panic disorder, agoraphobia, social anxiety, generalized anxiety, health anxiety, depression, including depression that hasn’t responded to earlier treatment, skin picking (dermatillomania), hair pulling (trichotillomania), and hoarding disorder. I’m warm and direct. I’ll be honest about what treatment involves, what progress realistically looks like, and whether I’m the right fit. If I’m not, I’ll point you to someone who is. ERP asks you to face things you’ve been avoiding, and I’ll guide you at a pace that works for you. The people who do best with me are done managing symptoms and ready to change them. If that’s where you are, reach out.

Greetings, I'm Sonya There are times when we all experience a loss of our sense of self. You may feel like you’re on a journey but aren’t quite sure which turn to take next. Maybe you’re feeling anxious, confused, sad, angry—or simply “blah.” You may have great friends, watch self-help TikToks, and try to figure things out on your own, yet still find yourself not feeling okay or unsure of where to turn. I bring a calm, accepting, and relatable presence to therapy, which allows me to build meaningful connections with my clients. I provide a judgment-free environment centered on calmness, peace, and support, where you can feel comfortable being yourself, expressing your thoughts and emotions, and knowing that you are heard. Together, we will explore and process the experiences, thoughts, and situations that may be impacting your emotional well-being and daily life. My goal is to empower you to develop practical strategies, strengthen your coping skills, and gain greater confidence in navigating life’s challenges. You don’t have to have everything figured out before beginning therapy. Sometimes, you simply need a safe place to start. I look forward to walking alongside you as you work toward greater clarity, balance, and a more peaceful resolution.

I bring over 20 years of experience working with individuals across all ages—adults, young adults, teens, and children. Throughout my career, I’ve supported people navigating a wide range of challenges, including trauma, faith-related concerns, chronic illness, anxiety, depression, substance use, men’s issues, self-esteem struggles, decision-making difficulties, and grief and loss. My path into counseling began with a master’s degree in pastoral counseling. Over time, I felt called to serve a broader community, which led me to pursue a second master’s degree in counseling psychology. This training allows me to integrate both clinical expertise and a deep respect for each person’s lived experience. At the heart of my work is the therapeutic relationship. I believe healing happens when you feel genuinely heard, supported, and safe. My primary goal is to create a space where you can talk openly about the parts of your life that feel heavy, confusing, or painful—without judgment or pressure. I draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches, tailoring them to your unique needs and goals. Hello, and welcome. Reaching out for support is a courageous step, and my goal is to provide a space where you feel safe, understood, and supported while working toward meaningful change. I’m a Florida Licensed Mental Health Counselor who works with adults navigating anxiety, depression, stress, emotional overwhelm, relationship challenges, trauma, and major life transitions. I believe therapy should be both compassionate and honest. While I provide empathy, encouragement, and support, I also believe growth sometimes requires direct conversations delivered with care and respect. My approach is warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental, but I’m also willing to challenge unhealthy patterns, help you gain insight, and encourage accountability when needed so you can move forward in healthier ways. With experience working in emergency departments, psychiatric units, transitional housing programs for substance abuse, and with military families, I’ve supported individuals through some of life’s most difficult and emotionally complex experiences. These settings have strengthened my ability to remain calm under pressure while helping clients feel grounded, heard, and empowered during challenging times. My therapeutic approach combines evidence-based techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and psychoeducation, to help you better understand the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we’ll identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck and build practical tools to help you cope more effectively, improve emotional balance, and create lasting change. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, disconnected, or simply ready for growth, therapy can help you gain clarity, healing, and confidence. I would be honored to support you on that journey.

In the beginning stages of my career, I worked with teenagers in foster care settings, alternative schools, and college students with disabilities. A few years later, I transitioned into working with adults and seniors in hospital settings, home health, hospice care, skilled nursing and assisted living facilities. I am also a certified financial social worker, and by client request, am open to work with my clients on improving their financial health by addressing the emotional, behavioral, and psychological factors behind money management. My primary language is English and my second language is Spanish (Intermediate level). I enjoy traveling, and learning other languages and cultures as well!

Hi! I'm Zev. I help teens and adults heal from anxiety, depression, and past trauma by providing compassionate, evidence-based therapy to help the people I work with take ownership of their story, their self, and their future. For people who feel stuck in patterns of fear, self-doubt, feeling down, or memories that just won't go away, healing can mean finally feeling a sense of peace. I believe therapy should be both compassionate and useful. I will listen and validate your experience, but I will also challenge you when it is helpful and teach you skills you can use outside of our sessions. Most importantly, you don’t have to come into therapy knowing exactly what you need. You just need to be willing to start figuring it out. My job is to meet you where you are, help you understand yourself better, and work with you toward feeling more like yourself again.

I believe therapy is most effective when it feels both supportive and collaborative. My goal is to provide a safe space where clients can process trauma, explore challenges, and build the skills they need to live more fully. I offer psychotherapy, therapeutic assessments, and specialized interventions designed to meet each client’s unique needs. Whether you are navigating life transitions, managing mental health concerns, or seeking greater clarity in your relationships, I aim to help you feel understood and empowered. As I often remind clients, our connection to the world is shaped by the people we engage with. Together, we can build on your existing strengths and experiences to create meaningful change and improve your quality of life. As an athlete, a family man, and a man of faith, I understand the challenges with adjusting to change associated with leaving a sport or career, you love, before you believe your time is up. I understand what it feels like to develop a bond and the challenges with sustaining such bonds. I also understand seeking growth spiritually when there’s so much temptation and triggers that seem to pull me away for my goals. With that, these experiences are what hopefully keep me humble, motivated, and grateful.

Frequently asked questions

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in Florida. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Florida from Miami to Jacksonville! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Florida.

Yes! If you use Devoted Health - Dual (Medicare & Medicaid) you’ll be asked to verify your Member ID at the time you book the appointment. However, if you don’t have Devoted Health - Dual (Medicare & Medicaid) you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
