Hi, I’m Joe. I’ve worked in the mental health field for 27 years across substance use treatment, outpatient care, and hospital settings. I’ve supported individuals and families through crisis, transition, and long-term growth. I work well with young adults, adults, and families who are navigating stress, trauma, anxiety, depression, substance use, or major life changes. I also have extensive experience working with men who may struggle to express emotions directly and instead feel stuck in withdrawal, irritability, or self-doubt. As a veteran, I understand the mindset and pressures that can come with military life. Across all of my work, I aim to provide a grounded, steady presence where honesty, insight, and meaningful change can take place.

I believe therapy should feel like a safe, supportive space where you can talk openly, feel understood, and be yourself without judgment. Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, so my goal is to make the process approachable, respectful, and centered around your needs. My approach is collaborative, strengths-based, and tailored to each individual. Therapy is not one-size-fits-all, and meaningful progress happens when clients feel heard, involved, and comfortable moving at their own pace. Together, we focus on the goals that matter most to you while developing practical tools to help manage stress, navigate challenges, and build confidence in everyday life. I work to create an environment that is active, supportive, and grounded in trust. Along with exploring experiences and emotions, we focus on strategies and skills that can be applied outside of sessions to support lasting growth and change. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, life transitions, emotional stress, relationship challenges, or simply looking for greater clarity and balance, I strive to provide a space where you feel respected, supported, and empowered throughout the process. I recognize the resilience and strengths people already carry with them, even during difficult times, and I view therapy as a partnership focused on helping you move toward the life you want for yourself.

I would best describe myself as someone who seeks to provide a compassionate and effective approach to people seeking change. It takes a lot to become a therapist. I often think of a therapist as a rock in a tumbler. We spend a lot of time smoothing out our own rough edges so that we can be helpful to others. Your life is your own. I work with people to discover what they want and what's standing in their way.

Looking for coping skills to manage frequent daily stressors, previous trauma, depression or anxiety? I've been a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) for 23 years and have had a variety of different roles in the behavioral health field. I believe my personal and employment experiences over the years help to inform the way I am with clients. While I work with adult individuals only at this time, I'm skilled in relationship dynamics and work a lot with individuals who are also involved in therapy with their spouse or significant other. Sometimes individual therapy is required to address personal issues which impact the relationship. Reaching out for help or trying therapy for the first time can be stressful for some due to past trauma, fear of vulnerability, trust issues, the unknown, etc. If you've made it this far, I'm glad you're pushing through the uncomfortableness in hopes of finding new skills or techniques to help improve your current situation. **I'm licensed in IL, IN, and NM.**

My name is Miranda, and I’m a warm, down-to-earth therapist who works with adolescents, adults, and families navigating anxiety, stress, relationship challenges, and life transitions. I want therapy to feel like a place where you can take a breath, be yourself, and feel genuinely heard—not another place where you have to have everything figured out. I take a strengths-based, person-centered approach and create a supportive, collaborative space where we can work together toward meaningful change. I believe therapy can be both productive and approachable, with room for a little lightheartedness along the way. I believe self-care looks different for everyone, and I try to make space for the things that bring me joy, connection, and balance. I bring that same perspective into my work with clients. Finding small, meaningful ways to care for yourself can make a big difference, especially during stressful or transitional seasons of life. It's important for therapists to be, first and foremost, real human beings in relation to clients. I know how to be a therapist. You know how to be you. I try to bring understanding and, when appropriate, humor into my work with people. Therapy is where you can try on different parts of yourself in a non-judgemental environment. What happens in session can reflect what you experience in your everday life. This provides you with perspective to live a more fufilling life. I work remotely, but find that this is not a barrier to real connection.

My first career includes 17 years of retail management. I worked in multiple divisions, environments, and roles within the retail management industry. Most of my experience was in big-box retail environments or corporate offices, so I understand the expectations and stressors of P&L management, marketing, staff performance/recruitment/training & development, shrinkage, O.S.H.A. compliance, and merchandising. I transitioned from the retail management industry to the human services industry in March 2010 after earning my Master’s degree in Human Services, with a specialty in Mental Health Counseling. I recently obtained a doctoral degree in Human and Social Services. This information is pertinent for adults who need assistance to cope with work-life balance, corporate industry standards, stressful work environments, conflict management with co-workers, and work performance due to compassion fatigue or inappropriate time management.

Are you feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or constantly on edge? Exhausted from trying to hold everything together? You may be struggling from the effects of anxiety, depression, or trauma. Maybe you're feeling emotionally drained, unmotivated, or simply not feeling like yourself anymore. You may find yourself having difficulty relaxing, withdrawing from the people or things you once enjoyed, constantly overthinking, or worrying about what might go wrong. Anxiety and depression can make even everyday life feel exhausting, and you don't have to figure it all out on your own. Together, we can work to understand what's contributing to how you're feeling, develop healthier ways of coping, and help you feel more grounded, confident, and in control. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, relationship difficulties, divorce, coparenting, or work issues, therapy can be a safe place to slow things down, make sense of what you're experiencing, and begin reconnecting with yourself. I also specialize in helping people who have experienced unhealthy relationships, domestic violence, emotional abuse, narcissistic abuse, and trauma. Sometimes these experiences show up as anxiety, depression, self-doubt, people-pleasing, difficulty trusting yourself or others, or feeling as though you've lost your identity. You do not have to know exactly what to call what you've been through in order to seek support. My goal is not just to help you get through each day, but to help you reconnect with yourself and create a life where you feel empowered, safe, confident, and like yourself again. You're not stuck. Healing is possible, and you do not have to go through it alone. I provide a warm, down-to-earth, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel understood, supported, and comfortable being your authentic self. If you're ready to take the next step, I'd be honored to support you on your journey.

I specialize in supporting adults navigating anxiety, stress, burnout, major life transitions, caregiver responsibilities, chronic illness, grief and loss, aging, and unexpected change. I bring a combination of clinical expertise, compassion, and real-world experience to my work. My background in hospital settings has given me extensive experience helping individuals and families cope with medical diagnoses, crisis situations, caregiving demands, health-related uncertainty, and significant life changes. My experience as a military spouse has also shaped my understanding of transition, identity, uncertainty, and starting over. Military life often requires adjusting to change, rebuilding routines, navigating career and family shifts, and finding stability during unfamiliar seasons. That perspective allows me to connect not only with military families, but with anyone facing a major transition, feeling disconnected from who they once were, or trying to create a new sense of direction. I have seen firsthand how resilient people can be, even during incredibly difficult seasons. These experiences have strengthened my ability to remain calm under pressure, provide compassionate support, and help clients find hope, build resilience, and develop practical strategies to move forward one step at a time.

Hi! I'm Shannon Aldridge, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 18 years of experience working with individuals, couples and families both online as well as in my private practice. I achieved my Master's Degree in Social Work from Aurora University in 2005 while continuing to work with DCFS. My work in child welfare provided vast opportunities to work with populations struggling with Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, ADHD and Addictions. It was through this experience that I found passion in strengthening families and advocating for education, treatment and community supports. Hello! I'm Jennifer and I am a 52 y/o Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor based in Chicago, IL (cis/het.) I don't use the AI transcription. I have worked in community mental health (13+ years) and as a private therapist (4 years) totaling 17 years in the field. I have experience with significant mental illness, trauma (esp. sexual and domestic violence recovery), and life transitions (finishing college, relationship changes, menopause, etc.) I work with individuals (teens and adults) and couples. I am an accredited trauma therapist (APT) and I am trained in Narrative Therapy. Additionally, I am a "nerd" therapist. I want to hear about what you read, watch, play, etc. We can talk about cosplay and conventions and the like. I like to draw parallels between real life challenges and the stories that we read in books and see on TV and movies (you can expect me to mention the following: INSIDE OUT, ENCANTO, BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, X-FILES, STAR WARS, STAR TREK, DOCTOR WHO, the MCU, etc, as well as the whole hero’s journey that we all take.) And I want to hear what stories keep you inspired and motivated. I want to know what you enjoy and feel passionate about. Our primary focus will be on what has brought you to therapy and what you want to work on but I know that there are many paths to these goals. As Tolkien said, “Not all who wander are lost.” So, we might wander a bit but we will wander together. At some point, during our virtual session, you will probably see one or both of my cats and your pets are welcome as well. Trans/queer friendly and welcoming. Greetings, It has always been my desire to serve and bring out the best in people. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Practitioner of the Healing Arts, my commitment to this work is both personal and professional. Growing up with two parents who struggled with addiction, I experienced anxiety and depression at an early age and made a conscious choice not to become a product of my environment. Instead, I chose a different path , one rooted in healing, understanding and helping others find their way through difficult chapters of their own lives. My lifelong interest in human behavior and emotional functioning led me into this field, where I strive to help clients gain clarity, develop meaningful coping skills, and move toward their desired goals. I work best with individuals who are ready to roll up their sleeves and actively participate in their healing process. You’ve already taken a courageous first step by reaching out; now let’s explore whether we are a good fit, as it would be an honor to collaborate with you. I value transparency, authenticity, and a strong therapeutic connection. You are the expert in your lived experience; my role is to support, guide, and walk alongside you as you move toward growth, balance, and emotional well-being.

I help adults (and teens 13+), virtually and in-person, who are struggling with anxiety, depression, sexual dysfunctions, eating disorders/disordered eating, and adjustment issues related to grief. Grief can manifest not just from death, but also from the end of a relationship, loss of a dream, health issues, or any unexpected changes in life. My work extends to helping those who have experienced trauma, as well as individuals looking to improve their self-esteem, strengthen their relationships, and manage stress effectively. In collaboration, from a trauma informed and compassion-focused approach, I will help you in creating a toolbox of techniques to soothe your nervous system while fostering self-compassion and building emotional awareness.

I greet every client with the belief that we are born into this world with the capacity for living unique and healthy lives. I believe that it is the stressors of challenging individual experiences, pain and illnesses, trauma, and attachment injuries that move us off our centers and cause symptoms of depression, anxiety, and dysfunctional defensive behaviors. My goal is to create a setting where my client feels safe and supported, and therefore able to re-examine the patterns that form our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Together, as a collaboration, we can take the fascinating journey and reach for full potential, coherence, and health

Welcome! I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with nine years of experience, and I am deeply passionate about the work I do. Throughout my career, I have worked in both nonprofit settings and private practice, earning a reputation for building meaningful, long-term relationships with my clients. Many clients return to me when they decide to re-engage with therapy, which speaks to the trust and connection we previously established. I specialize in supporting individuals navigating daily stressors, the challenges of past trauma, or relational distress. While I have worked with clients from diverse backgrounds, I am most frequently sought out by Latinas and individuals with a Christian background.

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in Illinois. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Illinois from Rockford to Springfield! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Illinois.

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
